understand and realize that Islam in no way supports this kind of senseless and gruesome act.

Coding and Spoken Word
I have recently been introduced to the world of Computer Programming and the wonders of coding. I'm looking at possibly going to college for Computer Science. So, I've been doing a lot of code writing at codecademy.com. Learning the basics of JavaScript and Python. At Khan Academy I found you can write your own. So I took what I learned at Codecademy and worked on my own project on Khan's site. http://www.khanacademy.org/cs/new
Here is my first program. Just a simple image. A minimalist version of Van Gogh's 'Starry Night'.http://www.khanacademy.org/cs/van-goghs-starry-night/1528454782
I've also been recording more spoken word.
Check that out here:

What's going on.
ACT prep, getting back into routine of Taekwondo, not being sick. Basically, that's it. I'll do something interesting so that I can write about it here soon.
I've started to learn different computer languages. Something that I'm finding really interesting.

Update
"So, what have you been up to Zeki?"
Really, not that much. You know, just fighting off zombies in the dark corners of uninhabited Manhattan, riding in self-driving cars, and transforming into epic superhero robots. Ya know, the usual schtuff.
I'm listening to Dub FX for the first time in a while. Still fun.
I'm gonna try to get back to doing that thing called running on a regular basis again. Outside, must be outside.
I've got a couple ideas for spoken word pieces, kind of hitting a road block in figuring out how exactly they'll actually turn out, we shall see...
Stay well, stay awesome, go read a book,

Revolution from within
Are you ready to start a revolution?
From within
Within each of us
We have to bring it out
Deep within each of us
There is a desire
A desire to change something
A desire to go somewhere
A desire to tell someone something
We should evaluate the desire
Think about the outcome
Is it worth it?
What will it do to us?
What'll it do for us?
Then go do it
Go start your own personal revolution
A revolution from within
From within
Within each of us
We have to bring it out
Deep within each of us
There is a desire

I'm tired of all the talking
We have to start the walking
They've got it in Tunisia, Egypt, Lybia, and Syria
Let's get it here in America
Being the change we wish to see
Requires us to change what we see
I've got a burning flame within me
A desire for the people of this world to be free
To review this thing they call democracy
Change your world today
Try something new
Help a brother out
There's nothing stopping you
Go out and be the change you wish to see
By changing what you see

I'm working on a new spoken word. Hopefully I will have more new pieces more often. Heck, might compile them and make an album, that'd be fun.
Mr. Hans
Go and listen to any Hans Zimmer tracks. Listen to the entirety of the album. He has a way with music which blows my mind. Really beautiful stuff.
I found out Grooveshark has a mobile site now, that's uberly fantastic.
I want to play Minecraft when I acquire a computer one day.
I know why I like video games... I finally figured out the mystery.
It's one spot in my life where I actually have control of what is going on.
I should write a letter soon. Today, I am determined to reply.
Now go out in the world and do great things.
The hair is gone, and I like snowmobiling, but not 'Fun.'
So, the Pope is done... Who comes next?
Mumford & Sons got the 'Best album' award last night, that's cool.
I'm just gonna say I'm not a real big fan of the group 'Fun.', yeah just so ya know.
I think we should do our own awards. In my opinion music is a personal thing. Someone else can't tell me what song is the best. I really don't like a lot of music that other people think is super awesome. Songs that I really enjoy and think are totally super awesome, most other people aren't really fans of. Too bad for them...
I went snowmobiling. Fun times. Went all the way to Harrington Beach on the trails. It was fun speeding through the fields. Purposely taking the bumpy routes. We traveled probably a total of 40 miles. It was wonderful. There weren't any riders out, which made it even more enjoyable, didn't have to worry about oncoming traffic.
I may have been singing really loudly at some points, while in my helmet....
Is it a bad thing that I'm making an effort not to read the Conserve School Blog, or look at the pictures their posting?
In other news, I got a haircut on Friday....
Stay well, keep writing, take care,

New videos, go check 'em out.
recent listens
'Roll away your stone'- Mumford and Sons
'State run radio'- Lupe Fiasco
Two songs I enjoy right now.
Hans Zimmer is super awesome. Check out 'The Dark Knight' soundtrack. I really like this track.... If you have ten minutes to spare, just sit and listen.
Not sure why, but I really enjoy this one.

Also Hans Zimmer's other stuff. I also really like 'Discombobulated' from the 'Sherlock Holmes' soundtrack. He's got a certain style. I hope to check out 'The Dark Knight Rises' soundtrack from the library sometime soon.
I also really like the style of this one. 'Timshel', another one by Mumford & Sons. So simple, just a guitar and a few voices.
So I find I really enjoy the style of Mumford & Sons, and the power of theirs' and Radio Rahim's lyrics. Me thinks I should write my own.
Take care,

I just learned that the Postal Service is stopping delivering on Saturdays.
Not cool, not cool at all.
Not cool, not cool at all.
Haven't written for a while. I should write something. Here I am writing something. Something....
You should check out the film 'Five Broken Cameras'.
You should get outside. It's awesome.
Oh, something cool.
As of February 1st (just a few days ago) I have gone two years without drinking soda. wahoo!
Heard a song the other day called 'hall of fame', pretty good.
Got Mumford & Sons' new album 'Babel'. I have a few favorite tracks on that one. I have their older one 'Sigh no more' on request from the library. I already have a few tracks I really like on that one.
Yeah, not much else.
Remember to stay awesome,

An inspiration for my writings:
I like Mumford & Sons, I like Simon & Garfunkel, It's a 2-for-1 deal.

Some M&S Lyrics I'd like to share
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life
Do not ask the price I pay for I must live with my quiet rage
Tame the ghosts in my head that run wild and wish me dead
Should you shake my ash to the wind
Lord forget all of my sins
Stay awesome folks!
A picture I saw on that thing called Facebook, thought I'd share.
One person, many sides
You don't know me
I don't know you
Let's not pretend
I don't think anybody knows anybody
There's a side of me you haven't seen
A side nobody has seen
A side I haven't yet seen
I show you what I want
I don't hide the other sides
They just don't come out
They stay hidden within another me
Don't think you know me,
Have me all figured out,
How could you?
If I don't even know
How many sides do you have?
I don't know you
Let's not pretend
I don't think anybody knows anybody
There's a side of me you haven't seen
A side nobody has seen
A side I haven't yet seen
I show you what I want
I don't hide the other sides
They just don't come out
They stay hidden within another me
Don't think you know me,
Have me all figured out,
How could you?
If I don't even know
How many sides do you have?
I'll be me, you be you
If you actually wanna hear me recite this, lemme know. I feel it's more meant to be that than a piece of writing.
I am me
You are you
He is he
Nobody is anybody else
We all are our own
and we gotta realize that
He is not me
I am not him
Don't compare me to anybody else
Don't label me
Telling me who I am
Don't categorize me
Telling me who I am
I know who I am
I'm the one who was supposed to be called Sulayman
I like to use words
I like to combine 'em
-make 'em into nice soundin' verses
I feel it's a tool
Every rhythm, every rhyme
Every verse, every line
It's a way to get our message across
From the east, to the west, to the south
and up to the side of the tree with moss
This is a power we've got
Let's not abuse it
Get your voices heard
It's time to face the music
I am me
You are you
He is he
Nobody is anybody else
We all are our own
and we gotta realize that

New spoken word coming.. I'm feelin' something....
Need some motivation, or a smile?
What are you doing to make the world awesome?
Thoughts running through
Don't let others run your life.
It's yours for a reason.
If I act in a certain way because it appeals to others, then I'm not me.
If you don't like how I act
How I dress or put myself together
What music I listen to
too bad...
What I think, how I feel, is my opinion.
Have your own.
Respect mine.
If you can't or won't accept me for who I am
then please don't pretend.
I don't try to please others
Life would suck if I did that
It wouldn't be my life
That's not a life worth living
It's yours for a reason.
If I act in a certain way because it appeals to others, then I'm not me.
If you don't like how I act

Last year I received second place in black belt sparring.
First medal I've ever received in sparring at a tournament.
Looking forward to competing again.

Would you like to go to the movies?
Last night my family and I headed to the Rivoli. A wonderful budget theater in Cedarburg. We watched the movie 'Here comes the boom'. A surprisingly entertaining comedy. Even more exciting than that, the previews. More specifically a certain preview for a certain movie. Having to do with Stars and Trekking through them. Yes, Star Trek. I may have been doing a little dance in my seat while watching.

A few years ago my family and I took a trip out to Colorado. One spot we got to visit was the Red Rocks. A beautiful place. I wanna go back, and actually watch a concert there. Yeah that'd be fun... Anybody want to go?

Spoken word
I said I had new spoken word, didn't I?
There's nothing like running through back trails. Good times.
Written by myself and a friend.
The trail opens up
The trees hover above
The world goes to peace,
This is the place I love
Gliding through the leaves
avoiding the root and stone
Closing down the little thieves
Deposing them from their high throne
They chase us down
We take flight on higher ground
The earth beneath us
A foot's pitter patter the only sound
Flying through the forest
At the speed of light
Thoughts and feelings fall behind
Slipping out of sight
Sprinting through the wooded groves
the boxes that restrain us
All their edges lose their hold
True freedom finds us

Inspiration
A quote and picture that was shared on Facebook. Love them both.
The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been before.
Creativity in living is not without its attendant difficulties, for peculiarity breeds contempt. And the unfortunate thing about being ahead of your time is that when people finally realize you were right, they’ll say it was obvious all along. You have two choices in your life; you can dissolve into the mainstream, or you can be distinct. To be distinct, you must be different. To be different, you must strive to be what no one else but you can be .

New spoken word... Woot!
Five Broken Cameras
Everyone should see this film.
Open your eyes to what is going on. Open your eyes and look around. Realize the reality people! HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE!?
I don't care what your religion, race, or anything that divides us humans is.
Every person needs to see this.

New fun
I recently purchased a skateboard. Not sure why. It's fun. I live on a stretch of road that's flat for quite a ways before going down an uberly big hill. Makes for a good practice track.
I once had a skateboard, quite a long time ago. A gift from my older brother. I remember it being the coolest gift I had gotten that Eid.
I rode the heart out of that thing... Until it rotted...
I think it rotted because I may have not put it away in the shed. I may have left it out in the grass some nights...Probably most nights... Woops...
So right now I basically suck on it. but hey, I'm gonna get better. Practice makes perfect, right? We'll see.
Maybe one day I'll be able to do this, maybe...

Traveling through time
Time travel. Wouldn't that be an awesome ability. I mean, the concept itself is pretty awesome.
To be able to travel to any point in history, mess around with it to your liking, then go back to your time. Yeah, sure that'd be cool.
Unfortunately, we're not able to do that.
At least, not physically, at least, not as of this moment.
Go read a book, go outside and use your imagination, go and spend some quality time with a few little kids. These are all ways you can travel to a different time, a different place, so simple, yet we don't realize it.
If you want to go into your own past, just to observe what you had done, write things down, keep that thing they call a journal. Trust me it'll provide you with entertainment and lessons in your future. For me a lot of my past writing gives me some humor, because I try to learn from the past.
Something I found that I had written as I was falling asleep, one night while at Conserve. I found it entertaining...as I read it now.
Where did these come from
These words from my sleepy, energized imagination
to my hand
to the pencil
to this fiden
..I don't know what a fiden is either. That's what happens when you write 'til you sleep.
Didn't I tell you your own writings could provide you with some entertainment?
Perhaps we, as of now, can't go back in time and rewrite our pasts, right our wrongs, change something we said, but perhaps it's for the better. Perhaps knowing we can't go back will change how we act in the present, bettering our future.
We need to learn from our past, look back on it, see what worked, see what didn't, see what we could do differently the next time we're faced with the same challenge.
There are some things in our past that we wish we hadn't done, or we wish we could've done differently. We can't change what we've already done, we can only learn from it.
If we can do that, I believe we could lead happier lives.
Stay well, stay awesome, keep writing,
Zeki

Some motivation
Spoken word
So, some of you may know, most of you probably know, I really enjoy spoken word.
I was originally and still am inspired by "The Peace that Keeps me Radical".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYCLLzybRD4
After watching, loving, memorizing, and performing that piece, I've decided to write my own pieces.
So, this is my first solo piece.
Teaching me how to be
There’s just a little something I wanna tell the whole world
So I thought I’d try this thing called spoken word
Spread my message like the song of a little bird.
I want to inspire others like others have inspired me
Through their actions and their words I learn how I want to be.
I learn from every human being through how they are being
I learn how I want to be when I am being me.
Inspiring others like others have inspired me
This is a goal I want to keep and never let go
So now… Here I go.
I am inspired by her and him whether they are in New York or Berlin
These people inspire me in how I want to be.
How he is not afraid to speak his mind, how he masters the art of rhythm and rhyme How he recites the words written from above, how he makes sure I have the proper glove.
How kind she can be, how far he can see.
These are the people that inspire me and teach me how to be
How he is not afraid to believe in peace, how strong she is to be at peace.
How he is at peace with the people around him, how connected he stays with his own kin.
How consistently he fought, how meticulously he bought.
These are just a few who have inspired me
Different people inspire me in different ways,
each individual teaches me a different lesson,
Teaches me in different ways how I want to be livin’

Check out the HISHEdotcom (How It Should Have Ended) channel on youtube. They are always entertaining and humorous...
"Be yourself, everyone else is already taken."
I really like that quote.
I find it hilarious how people want to 'fit in'. To be a part of that crowd, or be associated with 'those guys'. Why can't we just be ourselves? If people want to spend time with us they will.
If we're always trying to fit in, to be like others, than why are we ourselves?
Each and every one of us is different.
You can go around and across the globe and you won't find a person identical to you, at least it's not very likely.
When we go into stores, seeing the advertisements on tv and the internet, pretty much any billboard along the freeway, we're being told how to be, how to act.
What if we just were ourselves? Had our own interests, our own dreams? Yeah, that'd be cool.
Don't lose your uniqueness.
Be yourself.
Stay well, stay awesome, keep writing,
Zeki

From the ground up
They're building a house next door. It is quite an amazing process to watch. From the digging and pouring for the basement, to the raising of the walls, to the placement of the roof. It's pretty spectacular what a few guys with some power tools can accomplish. Watching each step, it's pretty amazing what it'll turn out to be.
Mr. Pfrang
Check this guy out. He's a good friend of mine making some awesome music. Let's get him ranked #1 in the area!

Remember to stay strong, stay inspired, and stay awesome!
Looks like there's some potential in this movie. We'll see.
Every moment
I'm sitting here, eating a bowl of popcorn. I'm trying to think of something clever, really smart, something inspirational, mind-blowing, some deep wisdom that'll blow everyone away.... Yeah, we'll see. I wish I had a collection of Epictetus here....If you get that reference, I'm smiling now.
I will share something I find inspirational though, a quote I read a little while ago. It's from this cool guy named Muhammad Ali.
Paraphrased here:
"Don't count the days. Make the days count."
Let's go and do great things.
The time we have on this planet is very limited people. Let's not waste any of it.
Spend time today and for the rest of the days you have left on this planet doing things worth doing.
The days we have on this planet shouldn't be taken for granted.
Let's make sure we take advantage of having each day we have.
Peace,
Stay well, stay awesome, keep writing,
Zeki

Memories we won't erase
Recently, I've been thinking about Conserve a lot! Really missin' the people and the campus. Found a song that might show that. Listen to the chorus of 'Never forget you' by Lupe Fiasco Featuring John Legend. You might get what I'm thinkin'.
Take me to that old familiar place
Take me to memories we won't erase
Take me to all that we had
Good and the bad
I'll never forget you
I'll never let you go
I'll never forget you
Conserve is an experience I will never forget. It's an experience filled with memories I won't erase.
Take care

Some cool schtuff
Thought I'd share some things that I find really fun recently.
Letters.
Yeah, letters, ya know, those things you write with a writing utensil, and put in the mailbox, then send to friends. Yeah, writing and receiving those are pretty super awesome. Try it out sometime.
Being outside.
It's really quite simple, all you have to do is walk outside your door. Quite a fantastic experience, I highly recommend it.
Random massages.
When my mom comes from behind and starts giving me a wonderful shoulder massage. Yeah, that's cool.
Really cool Ted Talks. Check it.
http://www.ted.com/talks/aaron_koblin.html
Basically Ted Talks in general are cool.
Mumford and Sons. They've got some pretty epic stuff, check them out.
Before Conserve I only knew one of their songs, 'Dustbowl Dance'. At Conserve I was introduced to a few more tracks. After Conserve I'm still finding more. I'm still listenin'.
Mei-Jing, Maeve, and their awesome blogs. Check it, it's awesome.
Mei-Jing's:

Oh, I was gifted a Sonic Screwdriver. Yeah, that's awesome.
Walking on the sidewalk...In town....While singing along with whatever song is playing in your headphones. Fun times!
The icy sidewalks.
So much fun to skate with shoes on. You should try it. Don't get hurt. I promise it's fun.

Look up there...
Look up a bit, I've added a new tab. I've been shown a lot of cool videos recently, by some really cool people. So I said to myself, "Why not show those videos to the 2 or 3 people who read your blog?" Then I replied to myself "Yeah, that's a great idea." So I did it. I hope you find the videos entertaining. I do.
Hope you are all doing wonderfully fantastic,

Time doesn't always fly by
I realized as I woke up this morning that it has been a month since the final day on the beautiful campus of Conserve School, in the beautiful place they call Lowenwood. It is very hard for me to fathom the fact that it has only been four weeks. It feels so much longer. But then I also have to ask myself, what about 5 months ago? What about the very first day of your semester at Conserve School, the first day of CS5? And all that happened since then.
Conserve School is an experience one cannot compare to any other.
It feels like it was just yesterday we were there, biking the trails, gazing the stars, sharing the songs, gathering around the campfires, reading the stories, climbing the trees, but I feel I've been away from it all for so long.
I feel as though Lowenwood and Conserve School is probably only accessible through a time capsule/spaceship because I'm pretty sure it's on a different planet, because I've never seen a place quite like it.
To any CS5 alumni reading this, missing you!
Well in this past month I have done some fun stuff, here are some highlights:
Receiving letters in the mail from awesome people!
Snowmobiling
Watched The Hobbit with Andy
Went to Madison...With Andy, to see my bro be epic in what he does epicly.
Got introduced to Google+ and the fun world of group chats
Went ice skating without ice skates...On the sidewalk
Introduced to more of Mumford & Sons
Watched 'Premium Rush', right now favorite movie I've seen this year. I totally think of the main character as me in an alternate universe.
Writing spoken word
Good times.

Inspiration
Before I go ahead and start my own writing, I want to recognize two blogs that inspire me to do this.

I'm Back!
Thanks to those who are pushing me to get back to posting on this site. Here I am, gonna have some fun!
Afternoon on Little Don, Moonrise on Big Don. 9-29-12
Bear head 42 Bog sunrise
I went out this morning to a different bog with a different camera (fancier). I found that I prefer the simplicity of my digital camera. Only got a few really good shots (out of the 174 pictures) that were worth sharing. Hope you enjoy.
